A homeowner approached Umbrella Broadband after struggling to achieve a stable internet connection in their garden office. The workspace, located at the rear of the property, was beyond the effective range of the home’s existing Wi-Fi network. The client had already attempted multiple fixes, including using Wi-Fi extenders supplied by their ISP. Unfortunately, these solutions failed to deliver reliable coverage or consistent speeds, making it difficult to work efficiently from the home office. Complicating matters further, the layout of the property presented a technical challenge. Any effective solution would require connectivity to be routed from the front of the house to the back garden, navigating through internal and external structural obstacles.
2Our Solution
Following an initial site survey, Umbrella Broadband designed a bespoke, hardwired connectivity solution to ensure maximum performance and reliability. The installation involved: • Running Ethernet cabling from the front of the property • Routing the cable down into the basement • Carefully guiding it along a corridor, concealing cabling wherever possible to maintain aesthetics • Bringing the connection back up to ground level • Extending the network externally to reach the garden office This structured approach allowed the team to overcome the physical limitations of the property without compromising on quality or appearance. The result was a fully hardwired connection delivered directly into the home office, supplemented by: • Multiple LAN ports for wired devices • Dedicated Wi-Fi coverage within the garden workspace
